Jimmy Fallon made a surprise appearance on Tuesday's episode of the NBC music competition series, The Voice. At the beginning of the video host Carson Daly said, "We have a surprise for our coaches. Right now, we have an artist preparing for the biggest performance of their entire life." Fallon, 48, then took the stage to perform Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)." The talk show host's prank of conducting his own blind audition surprised judges Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan, and Blake Shelton.
Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan were the first to turn around and immediately broke into hysterical laughter after they realized who was singing. A curious Chance the Rapper then turned around and screamed in shock as he watched Fallon dance and sing around the stage. As the other coaches continued to laugh and clap, Shelton refused to turn. Eventually, Fallon steps off the stage and presses Shelton's red button for him as the country singer cracks up. "You can't do that! You know the rules," said Shelton, 46. The host then expressed love for Shelton in his final season on the show. "Hey buddy, 23 seasons, you're a legend," he said.
Shelton said he knew the performance had to be a prank saying, "I was like, 'I know what's going on. No way am I hitting my button.'" Horan shakes Fallon's hand and said, "I knew it was you straight away." "It didn't take me long to figure out that it was Jimmy Fallon." Shelton continued to the cameras. "And there was no way I was gonna hit my button, he does not deserve the chair turn on this show. Jimmy's impersonation is the equivalent of walking up to Michael McDonald and slapping him in the face as hard as you can," Shelton joked.

As for Shelton, this is his last season on the show as he wants to spend more time with Gwen Stefani and her three sons with ex Gavin Rossdale. At the end of 2022, the singer announced the news in an official statement saying, “I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after season 23. This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew, and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week."

“I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow coaches over the years, including my wife, Gwen Stefani! I have to give a huge shoutout to the singers – the ‘Voices’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their coach. Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these artists, us coaches and everyone at The Voice chasing their dreams. It wouldn’t happen without you!”
