Back in January Wahlberg shared a photo of his daughter Grace, the youngest of Wahlberg's brood along with a throwback photo of himself where he had his hair grown long and looked strikingly like his daughter. "They say we look alike? 💕👼," he captioned the side-by-side photos. While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon the Ted star joked about looking forward to an empty nest when host Jimmy Fallon pointed out that Wahlberg's youngest is only 12. "She's already traveling the world, jumping horses and doing her thing," Wahlberg responded. "Of course, she picked the most expensive sport possible," the actor joked.
The doting dad decided to move his family of six to Nevada “to give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids and there’s a lot of opportunity here,” the Massachusetts native told The Talk, per People. The Uncharted star "moved to California many years ago to pursue acting," and has only made a couple of movies in the entire time that he was there. "So to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us," said the actor. He added that he wants "to be able to work from home" and he is "really excited about the future."

While he loves being a father, he struggled with not having the title of a "cool" dad. According to him, the Wahlberg kids are still “embarrassed” by him and his past work and are some of his harshest critics. He confessed that when his children saw a clip of him on stage with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, the hip-hop group he formed in 1991, they were “mortified.” “Even the stuff that that other people think is, like, cool in 2022, like movies and stuff? ‘Dad, it’s so dumb. Dad, that’s terrible,’” he told host Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show. “They’re not my biggest fans.”

The Transformers: Age of Extinction star is also a parent who believes that kids should grow up with their own opinions. He feels it's important not to impose any type of faith on them as well. He told Hoda Kotb on TODAY, that "even with my faith, I don't force it on them. But they know that Dad can't start the day without being in prayer, can't start the day without reading my Scripture or going to Mass. And hopefully, instead of forcing that on them, they'll say, 'Well, if it works for Dad, maybe it'll work for us,' and they'll kind of gravitate towards it on their own," Wahlberg added.
